This program is being done to celebrate Constitution Day, September 17th.   Federal law requires all educational institutions that receive Federal funds shall hold an education program on the US Constitution every year, on September 17th, for their students. This has been endorsed by a Resolution passed by the National Executive Committee of the American Legion Resolution No  23: Constitution Day..

The Resolution states that American Legion posts are encouraged to recognize and observe Constitution Day on September 17 each year; and, be it further RESOLVED, That all American Legion posts are urged to participate in Constitution Day activities each year; and, be it finally RESOLVED, That all American Legion posts are encouraged to reach out to people in their local communities to encourage participation in educating themselves and others about the contents of the U.S Constitution.

The US Constitution, now over 200 years old is the definitive constitutional document of the world, creating limited government, with separation of powers and checks and balances, visionary in its amendability, which protects states rights, requires consensus, limits opportunity for tyranny, and in its Bill of Rights reinforces the Declaration of Independence that natural rights are bestowed by God.

  • Each American Legion Post in their state will receive one free copy of the Liberty Lives Forever Pocket Constitution book that will be sent to the Department Adjutant. He/She will distribute the books to the individual Posts.
  • The Post Commander or Post Adjutant, at a meeting, will go over some, or all, of the 24 Q&A Flash Cards contained in the books, which are all facts taken directly out of the text of the US Constitution. The purpose is to educate members about facts contained in the US Constitution. We recommend going over a minimum of 12 questions with the members.
  • Liberty Lives Forever is pleased to provide materials to American Legion Posts to support educational programs about the US Constitution. After the flash cards are gone over, by the presenter, he/she will follow up by asking questions based on the flash cards. If a member gets the correct answer, a reward of the Post’s choosing can be given.
  • Members can be encouraged to bring paper and pen to the meeting where this is done and take notes as the flash cards are gone over. This helps people retain the material.
  • The presenter will give a report back, via e-mail, to the State Adjutant, how many raised their hands saying they knew the answer to the question. This will give concrete evidence that members are learning the material.  Maybe some members might write a brief note indicating the impact of this program to share with the State Adjutant?
  • Liberty Lives Forever has a multiple choice quiz that can be e-mailed to interested Posts to give to their members. Each question has 5 potential answers and only one is correct.
  • We ask members to go over the US Constitution with their family members and others in their network. Some members might like to volunteer to visit a class of students and go over the questions and answers with the students?
  • Pocket Constitution books available for $1 each plus shipping: andy@libertylivesforever.org
  • Thank you for participating in this US Constitution Education Program.
